This is the famous hill fort town and districts head quarters. This town situated 202 km from Bangalore city, you can get through Bangalore to Pune road. Chitradurga was a part of the Vijaynagar kingdom, Historically. Chitradurga has beautiful landscapes with rocky, hilly places. It had a feudatory dynasty of Vijayanagara, called the Nayakas known for their heroic exploits. They built this hill fort with seven rounds of ramparts, a picturesque sight. Sampige Siddheswara, Hidimbeshwara (a cave shrine), Ekanatheshwari, Phalguneshwara, Gopalkrishna are situated in the high forts. The district is bounded by Tumkur District, Chikmagalur District, Davanagere District, Bellary District, and Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh state to the east. Chtradurga divided into 6 talukas, namely Chitradurga, Hiriyur, Hosadurga, Holalkere, Challakere and Molakalmuru. Chitradurga fort is the famous known attraction in this district this also called as Kallina Kote, Ukinna kote, Elu Suttina kote (Fort of Seven rounds). Eighteen ancient beautiful temples can be found inside the Chitradurga fort. Madakari Nayaka was the last Ruler of Chitradurga. Chitradurga is the well known place for It's Historical Background.
