Culture of Karnataka

Karnataka is best known place for culture. Peoples in Karnataka have different types of cultural activities themselves. Kodavas, Tuluvas, Konkanis, okkaligas and Lingayaths have different type of culture including wedding, festivals, jatras, Poojas. In the Wedding ceremony Kodavas wearing their own traditional dresses and Tulvas and Other Ethinic Groups also wearing defferent kind of dresses comparing to other groups, Every Ethinic Groups have their own traditional Style.

Karnataka's cultural heritage is rich and variegated. Kannada literature saw its first performance from the 9th Century and in modern times it has created seven winners of Jnanapeetha Award for their literary talents.

Yakshagana is one of the famous dances happening mainly in Dakshina Kannada District and Udupi District, you can see this dance in other districts of Karnataka also. Yakshagana is dance with the story, when the story starts Yakshagana artist showing that with the dance in the Classic Folk Theatres. Dolu Kunitha, Suggi Kunitha and Other Kunithas(Dance) happening in the Festivals once a year in some part of South Karnataka Districts. Bolaak-aat, Ummat-aat and Komb-aat are the traditional dances performing by the Kodavas and arebhase gowdas with the traditional background music in the temples, especially in some festivals.
