Nagarahole National Park, Coorg

Nagarahole National Park is in the Border of Coorg and Mysore District in the Western ghat ranges. Nagarahole National Park was set up in 1955. Some best part of the Park situated in Virajpet taluku of Coorg District in Karnataka. This is the most Animal Populated national Park in India and best in Karnataka state. This is also named as Rajiv Gandhi National Park (for the Memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi). This Park stretches over 643 square kilometers and other National Parks also joining, they are Bandipur National Park (870 sq km), Mudumalai National Park (320 sq km) and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (344 sq km). Kabini River is the border which separates Nagarahole and Bandipur National Parks. This is the very Deep Forest and Wildlife Behavior with rich Diversity of fauna and Flora. Tourism in Nagarahole National Park is growing in the recent days, many of the tourists visiting this park that visiting Madikeri and Other tourist places in coorg. Some of the facilities like riding and special vehicles to the park are closed in the Monsoon.

Nagarahole means Snake Stream (Nagara means Cobra and Hole means Stream), that means peoples identify this forest with snake shaped river in many years ago. So that is the Named as Nagarahole.

Rosewood, Teak, Sandalwood and Silver oak are the Important trees found in Nagarahole National Park. Some tribes are inhabit this Park, they are Jenu Kurubas, the Betta Kurubas and Hakki-Pikki. There are more than 300kind of Birds found in this park. This Park has big Populations of Elephants, Tigers, leopards and wild dogs.

Climate in Nagarahole National Park
Climate of this Park is Pleasant and Peoples can walk around here. summer is hot usually around 33 °C and winter is pleasant with 04 °C. Winter is the rainy season and you can see animals easily and not possible to go deeper in the jungle. March to September is raining heavily.
