Kabini is the Famous wildlife destination of Karnataka in the south part of India. This part situated almost on the bank of kabini river. Kabini is the part of Nagarahole National Park in the south eastern part. Kabini which derived its name from the Kabin River, it’s on the Mysore and Manathavady Road, located around 80 km from Mysore and 220 km from Bangalore city, by the backwaters of the Kabini River. Kabini was hunting place of the Maharajas of Mysore, British Viceroys and Indian Royalties. This wildlife sanctuary home to around 6000 Asian elephants and other inhabitants are Langurs, sloth bear, samba, chital, bison, pythons, crocodiles, tigers, and leopard.

The backwaters of Kabini reservoir is very in rich in wildlife of Animals and tons of Birds and Greenery by the trees. This forest reserve is covered over 55 acres of forestland with beautiful valleys and water bodies. Kabini considered one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka, which rich in animal and birds life. Kabini river also shares some part of the land in Kerala, Kabini river originates in Wayanad District of Kerala state, and join the Kaveri river at Tirumakudalu in Karnataka.

  • Nagarahole National Park: This is home to many kinds of animals and birds, declared as nationa park in 1974, this is well known for Asian elephants which is in the rare in the world. It is the place of many peaks, narrow valleys, falls, small rivers with great habitats of Animals and Birds.
  • Kabini Dam: This is the Dam built in 1974, located in the Beechanahalli Village, it stands height of 58 meter and 696 meter width, stotage capacity of 19.52tmc ft. It is accessible by road easily.
  • Mastigudi Lake: The Lake formed in Kabini is main attraction, it covers over 60 sq km, and there is also temple that visible when it gets drained out in the summer season.
  • Kabini Backwater: It is most attractive spot in Kabini with beautiful small islands created by the river of Kabini, Birds and elephants are common in the kabini river bank. Animals visiting to the bank of backwater to drink water, swim and bath in any season, Elephants coming frequently.

Kabini easily accessible from main cities of Mysore and Bangalore, Nearest Airport and Railway station is Mysore. Distance from Mysore is 50 Miles and Bangalore is 140 miles.
