Ports of Karnataka Coastal

The Coastal of Karnataka Stretched over 300 Km (155 nautical miles), Water Transportation are little busy in the Coastal line. Udupi, Uttar and Dakshina Kannada Districts are the coastal lines to Karnataka. Importing and exporting happening largely through the sea Transportation like Ships and Boats. The New Mangalore Port is the only Major Port in Karnataka, it’s situated at Panambur of Dakshina Kannada District. The main export items are iron or manganese ore, granite blocks, agricultural, forest and marine products. Many of the International Imports and Exports running through New Mangalore Port, some of the main needed factories situated near to ports, it’s very easy to transport raw materials by road to factories (Almost of the ports fallowing this way)

Karwar port has been considered as a finest Natural port in the World. Millions of tonnes of goods transporting each year from the ports of Karnataka. Fishing is also main business from the minor ports. Government also supporting development of ports and shipping from 1957, has been making efforts to improve infrastructure of cargo handling capacity. Inland water transportation also very busy in the coastal of Karnataka which is transporting through coastal of 300 km instead of road transportation to carry basic goods to local coastal places in Karnataka.
