Sringeri is the Holy town in Chikmagalur District in Karnataka, and located in the banks of Tunga River. The name Sringeri derived from the epic character Rishyasringa who figures in Ramayana. The Average elevation of this place around 2204 ft. Sringeri also Headquarters of Taluk and has deep history includes Ramayana. Sankaracharya (the great exponent of Advaita Vedanta Philoshopy) had established his first and important monastery in Sringeri. Sringeri is the best known for its temples and also regarded as one of the Shakthi spot in India. This Town home to many Temples such as Vidyashanker temple, Chenna Keshab Temple and Sharadamba Temple are the important shrines in Sringeri.

Vidyashankar temple is built in 14th century and located at a picturesque location on the banks of the Tunga River, this temple built in Vijayanagar architecture style.

Sringeri well connected by Bus to all cities in Chikmagalur. Mangalore International Airport is the Nearest Airport situated about 100 km from Sringeri. Nearest Railway station is in Udupi that connects to Chikmagalur.
