Huchappayyagudi Temple, one of the famous temples at Aihole, was constructed in 8th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a shikhara over the garbh griha, also known as the main sanctum, which is the most common style found in Chalukyan architecture. The ancient temple was constructed using Rekha Nagra architectural style and has chambers, which are popularly known as Mukha Mantapa and Antrala.
The ceiling in the garbh griha has a Nataraja image and walls of the temple are embellished with elaborate carvings. The exteriors of the temple are adorned with fine carvings of Narsimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
