Trekking routes in Coorg:
  1. Nalkunad Palace to Talakaveri: There are two alternative routes to reach talakaveri. First route through Thadiyandamol peak (highest peak in coorg - 1745m), and another route through Iggutappa peak (1590m). better to take guide to avoid elephant, for route finding through some times difficult terrain.
  2. Climbing Peaks from Kakkabe: trekkers can climb peak of Thadiyandamol and Iggutappa peak from kakkabe ( kakkabe is the small town), You can reach by private buses from madikeri and virajpet. other possible climb to hill of Devasi Betta which is close to Irpu falls.
  3. Heggademane to Pushpagiri: Heggademane is the village which can reachable by bus from madikeri. Pushpagiri (1712m) is the second highest peak in Coorg. Trekkers better to take guide from locals and some agencies.
  4. Sanivarshante to Subramania: Sanivarsanthe is the small town in Somwarpet taluk. This well place to trek, this route is with rain forests and you can see many small waterfalls and animal behaviors, walking on top of the peaks it’s feel paradise. This trek will end up with subramania which is the small town in dakshina kannada district. This trek about 30 to 35 km.
  5. Galibeedu to Subramania: Galibeedu is the beautiful village, this is best trekking place in coorg, and peaks of these ranges are very beautiful. Animal and reptiles are common here, this trek about 25 to 30 km, you can see the complete nature through this route. When you starting from galibeedu village, cardamom and coffee plantation are welcoming you after that can see rain forest. This is one of the difficult routes in coorg, you must take help of local or trekking experts. You can confuse the routes in the middle of the rain forest. Important Notes for Trekkers: it is not recommended to trek alone for men and women, even group of women (there is no guarantee of security and safety). Be careful of Wild animals and poisonous snakes and scorpions. Don’t trek in the rainy season (June to September, many small rivers are getting big and you can’t cross the rivers). Coorg is one of the rainiest places in india.
